Description:
The Senior Accountant plays a crucial role in maintaining accurate General Ledger (GL) records through meticulous preparation of month-end reconciliations and supporting schedules. They adeptly identify and resolve reconciling items promptly and handle various journal entries covering cash, Accounts Payable (AP), accrued expenses, and more.
Collaborating closely with Fortis site locations, they ensure accurate reconciliation of intercompany transactions for month-end financial reporting, support year-end audits, document financial close processes for control, manage acquisition-related entries, and track corporate cost allocations.
Additionally, the Senior Accountant assists with internal ad-hoc reporting, contributing to overall financial operational efficiency.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare month-end reconciliations and supporting schedules for GL recording, promptly identifying and resolving reconciling items.
- Prepare journal entries in various areas, including cash, AP, accrued expenses, payroll, Accounts Receivable (AR), debt, stock-based compensation, lease, goodwill, intangibles and related amortization, fixed assets, and prepaids.
- Partner with Fortis site locations to track and reconcile intercompany transactions, investigating and resolving issues for proper month-end financial reporting.
- Collaborate with the Company’s audit firm at year-end and provide requested support.
- Document financial statement close process activities to maintain an effective control environment.
- Record acquisition-related entries, identify, track, and record acquisition measurement period adjustments.
- Review Profit & Loss (P&L) coding to ensure proper presentation of related costs.
- Track and record corporate cost allocations.
- Maintain the month-end close checklist to ensure timely month/quarter-end close.
- Collect and provide information needed for annual financial statement preparation.
- Assist with internal ad-hoc reporting/requests.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree, advanced degree a plus.
- 5-8 years of general corporate accounting experience.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with accounting software.
